Read Psalm 126
With wisdom the psalmist reminded himself and all of us that great joy is often preceded by a season of tears, as if they are seeds we sow that will bring a crop of joy to be later reaped. We are reminded to give thanks for what God has done for you, your family, and your community. Proclaim the Lord's goodness. Take a moment to write down all the ways that God has blessed you in in the last five 5 minutes, the last 5 days, the last 5 weeks, the last 5 months, the past 5 years—you'll be amazed at his abundance. Proclaim God as the one who brings joy out of sorrow, you'll feel the laughter that eventually returns. The
God-given ability to remember is an amazing thing when you stop and think about it. But it's not just about remembering an event or a miracle or a trial - it's about remembering what God did. It's about remembering how God used it, and responding with praise - responding with joy. Those hard memories you replay in your mind may suddenly became a reason for praise - because in them you could see the hand of God. You could see how He used those situations to show you His love.
